If you've played a lot of games, you probably have a list of the creepiest characters you've ever encountered. These characters are usually disfigured, just plain creepy, tragic or just love to jump scare the skin off you. Here are the top 10 characters that to this day creep me out whenever I see or hear about them.
10. Dead Hand from Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Dead Hand used to be in my childhood nightmares. It still creeps me out, with the gaping mouth and hands sticking out of the dirt trying to kill you.
9. Crawlers from Dead Space
Plenty of movies use dead children singing creepy songs as a scare tactic, but dead babies are even creepier. Dead, deformed, explosive babies are just horrifying.
8. Crawling Girl from Fatal Frame 3
Fatal Frame is still the creepiest game I know - with an eerie back story (based on a true story) to match. Enemies with twisted limbs who crawl towards you will always be insanely creepy, especially if they jump scare you, like the crawling girl does.
7. Cleaver from Dementium
Of course a fat, mutant blob with no eyes and giant teeth would be included in an insane asylum game. And of course, they have to give it a cleaver and syringe to up the creepy factor. Oh, and he chases you around with them too. Ugh.
6. Alma Wade from F.E.A.R.
Part of Alma's creepiness factor come from her tragic back story as a test subject. Her giggling, whispering and jump scares are even scarier.
5. Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2
Everything about Pyramid Head screams "GTFO." He twitches, drags around a giant blade and can be seen...ahem...raping monsters.
4. Slender Man from Slender
I was one of those people scared out of their minds by Slender Man. He kidnaps children, has a distorted body and has no face. In the game Slender, he pops out of nowhere and kills you. The game is literally one giant jump scare.
Nurse from Silent Hill 2
Ugh. More twitching creatures. The nurse is a bloodied corpse with a bandaged face. She drags her feet and violently twitches while trying to kill you.
Reika Kuze from Fatal Frame 3
Another character from Fatal Frame. Pretty much all the enemies from that game are terrifying. Fatal Frame gives Reika a cruel, sad back story. She was sacrificed by impalement thanks to a cult and torn away from the man she loves. I hate characters with quick, twitchy movements, similar to the Nurse from Silent Hill and Reika.
The Gatherers from Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Oh man. I swear everytime I thought I was safe, these freaks would pop out behind me and start slashing away at me. You have nothing to defend yourself with so all you can do is run until you lose them. Or hide in a closet. I screamed everytime their hideousness appeared on my scream.
